Chief of Staff to the Nigerian President, Mallam Abba Kyari died of
Covid-19. He was tested positive a few days back and was under
treatment. Kyari is believed to have contracted the virus, while
he was on an official trip to Germany recently.
Kyari (70 plus) was an important figure in President Muhammadu
Buhari’s government and his death could have political ramifications.
Known as the gatekeeper to the President in the political circles,
many wished to deal with him as he was perceived to be the eyes and
ears of the president. That included top ranking politicians and
business honchos. Many feel that with his demise, the decision making
in Nigeria may slow down.
