Yemi Osinbajo, vice-president of Nigeria, has said that the government would formulate policies to aid local production of goods, while also creating the requisite environment to aid local industries. Osinbajo explained the plans of the government to invest in the housing sector by building 30 million homes for Nigerians in five years, while the labour and raw material would be sourced locally to create jobs and boost local industries.
Osinbajo added that the Federal Government was planning to boost the power sector by investing more in renewable energy and liberalising
the sector by encouraging private investment. This would help in reducing the subsidy regime and will save a significant amount of
money for the federal government.
The Vice President also said that the government would build 30 million homes in five years. It is an opportunity to grow the local
industry and develop the housing programme. This would also generate jobs and usage of local materials. The engineers, architecture and
other professionals will be employed in large numbers in the process.
