Nigeria will adhere to principle of reciprocity while granting permission to airlines to resume operations into the country as it opens its airspace, the Federal Government.

Only airlines from countries that allow flights from Nigeria will be allowed to fly into and out of Nigeria. However, it specifically mentioned that the airlines from the European Union will not be allowed to fly into Nigeria in retaliation of EU banning flights and visitors from Nigeria. The Council of the European Union had opened its borders with 15 African countries except Nigeria. EU opened its borders effective 1st July 2020.

While Nigeria is opening its borders to allow flights, only a few flights per day will be permitted as a test case till it returns to full- fledged operations. The country will be evolving a protocol and will be put in public domain.
