Nigeria is keen on partnering with the Netherlands to bring about an agriculture revolution in the country. Over the years, too much focus on the oil sector led to gross neglect of the agriculture sector. From being the breadbasket of Africa, Nigeria soon became a net importer of food. Receiving a delegation of private investors from The Netherlands in his office, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said that Nigeria was keen on collaborating with the Netherlands to boost agricultural production in the country. He identified sectors like improved seeds/seedlings, cattle breeding, aquaculture, horticulture, poultry, Research and development, etc.
It was pointed out that Nigeria imported $60m of fish annually. Therefore aquaculture was singled out for partnership.
