Nexans Group sets up photovoltaic power plant in Morocco

Nexans Group inaugurated recently its photovoltaic power plant in Mohammedia, near Casablanca in the presence of Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour  and Nexans CEO Christopher Guerin

Nexans Group inaugurated its photovoltaic power plant in Mohammedia, near Casablanca in the presence of Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour and Nexans CEO Christopher Guerin.

The plant covers an area of 12,166 square meters. It is equipped with 4,640 photovoltaic panels. The capacity of the plant is over 3,927 megawatts annually. The plant can significantly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. It is expected that the plant can reduce carbon emissions by over 2,850 tonnes per year.

Recently, King Mohammed VI instructed the government to boost Morocco’s renewable energy projects to produce over 52% of its electricity through renewable energy. In November, the King called for the process of the three Noor Midelt solar energy projects to be accelerated so they can be implemented in time.
