Madagascar opened an international airport, which was funded in full by French companies. Méridiam, Bouygues Bâtiments International, Colas and ADP (‘Aéroports de Paris’) are the companies which have invested in building the airport. They have jointly invested 220 million euros in the facilities.
These three companies will act as concessionaires of the airport for twenty eight years. The airport will emerge as a major hub of the Indian Ocean region.
The new terminal will not only serve the economic and tourist development of Madagascar, but also become a place of life and a showcase for the flora and culture of Madagascar, say aviation experts. The new facilities created at the airport are conforming to the latest international environmental standards. It will be able to accommodate up to 1.5 million passengers a year.
