Namibia’s ambitious push to position itself as a leader in green hydrogen development has gained significant global recognition, following the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB)’s triumph at the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) Investment Excellence Awards 2025. The NIPDB clinched the Innovative Investment Promotion Campaign award, a category that highlights forward-thinking strategies and impactful promotional efforts that successfully attract and facilitate investment.

According to Catherine Shipushu, NIPDB’s Senior Manager for Marketing, Branding, and Communications, the award acknowledges the Board’s innovative and well-coordinated efforts in promoting green hydrogen as a transformative investment frontier for Namibia. She explained that the recognition underscores the NIPDB’s ability to craft a targeted, creative, and results-driven campaign that has positioned Namibia as a serious contender in the global renewable energy landscape.

“The NIPDB was honoured for its exemplary role in promoting green hydrogen as a new and promising investment sector in Namibia,” Shipushu stated. “This award reflects our strategic approach to attracting investors—through comprehensive promotional materials, identifying and engaging with potential investors, coordinating site visits, and maintaining meaningful relationships throughout the investment process.”

Shipushu further emphasized that the accolade represents not only the NIPDB’s success but also the collective effort of Namibia’s public and private sectors, whose collaboration has been vital in advancing the country’s sustainable investment agenda. She expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who have contributed to the nation’s growing global reputation for innovation and green investment.

This latest recognition adds to a series of international honors received by the NIPDB. In 2023, the organization won the Best FDI Project Award at the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) for the Kelp Blue Project, and in 2024, it was named Runner-up at the World Trade Promotion Organization Awards for its initiatives promoting inclusive and sustainable trade.
