Namibian Revenue Authority to Become Fully Digitised and Paperless

NamRA (Namibia Revenue Authority) Commissioner Sam Shivute said the agency has developed and adopted a digital transformation strategy that will modernise both its tax administration and customs operations. The transformation, according to Shivute, will also involve system integration with key institutions such as the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA), the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), the Bank of Namibia, and commercial banks to ensure seamless connectivity across platforms.

The transformation, according to Shivute, will also involve system integration with key institutions such as the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (BIPA), the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), the Bank of Namibia, and commercial banks to ensure seamless connectivity across platforms.

While the strategy has been approved and some programmes are already underway, Shivute noted that specific implementation timelines are still being finalised in collaboration with the World Bank.

Shivute stressed that the success of the digital transformation will depend heavily on the readiness and cooperation of partner institutions. He said some external entities may not yet have the necessary infrastructure or compatible systems, which could affect the pace of implementation.
