In a significant move aimed at boosting regional tourism, the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) has announced the official opening of three new regional offices in Rundu, Ongwediva, and Lüderitz, effective 1 September 2025. This expansion forms part of the NTB’s wider strategy to decentralise operations and bring tourism services closer to communities, especially in remote and underserved areas.
NTB’s Manager for Corporate Communication, Flora Quest, described the development as a turning point for the Namibian tourism landscape. “This is a milestone moment for NTB and for tourism in Namibia. We are not just opening offices; we are opening doors of opportunity. Each regional office will be a hub of support, connection, and growth for tourism entrepreneurs, community projects, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered,” she said.
The three offices have been strategically located to unlock the unique tourism potential of their respective regions. The Rundu office will cater to the Kavango East, Kavango West, and Zambezi regions, focusing on community-based tourism, river experiences, and the Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area—an international conservation initiative shared by five countries. The Ongwediva office will serve the Ohangwena, Oshikoto, Omusati, and Oshana regions, where cultural tourism and local entrepreneurship are growing sectors. Meanwhile, the Lüderitz office, covering the //Kharas Region, will highlight the area’s dramatic coastline, mining history, and geological features.
NTB Chief Executive Officer Sebulon Chicalu underscored the practical value of the decentralisation initiative. He noted that this development brings NTB services within reach for regions that have historically lacked access. “Tourism is everyone’s business, and from 1 September, NTB will be closer than ever to those who make it happen. This is truly about taking tourism to the people,” he said.

The new regional offices will provide a full suite of services, including tourism business licensing, compliance support, business development assistance, and destination marketing. Through this initiative, NTB aims to empower local tourism operators, generate employment opportunities, and fully tap into Namibia’s diverse regional tourism potential. The move also supports national objectives of inclusive economic growth, ensuring that tourism benefits are more equitably distributed across the country.
