Shaping Namibia’s Energy Future: From Discovery to First Oil and Beyond

The Namibia International Energy Conference (NIEC) returns to Windhoek for its 8th edition from 14–16 April 2026. Building on the success of previous editions, this landmark event will define Namibia’s next chapter as the nation advances toward first oil production by 2029.

Endorsed by the Government of Namibia and the African Energy Chamber, NIEC 2026 serves as a premier platform for global and local energy stakeholders to connect, forge partnerships, and drive the country’s energy transformation. The conference proudly welcomes Standard Bank Namibia and Rand Merchant Bank as Sapphire Sponsors, reflecting continued confidence in Namibia’s dynamic energy landscape and in NIEC’s role as a catalyst for growth, collaboration, and in-country value creation.

Arriving at a pivotal moment for the sector, NIEC 2026 comes as Namibia experiences rapid energy developments — from Rhino Resources’ Voltans-1X discovery and Galp Energia’s Mopane field partnerships to TotalEnergies’ anticipated final investment decision on the Venus project. Alongside oil and gas growth, the country’s clean energy drive is accelerating, with green hydrogen, solar, and power projects at the forefront.

As Namibia positions itself as Africa’s next energy hub, NIEC 2026 will convene government leaders, investors, operators, service providers, financial institutions, academics, innovators, and civil society to discuss investment, innovation, and sustainable energy growth.

Conference discussions will explore:

  • Oil, gas, renewables, nuclear, and power generation
  • In-country value creation and local enterprise participation
  • Skills development and knowledge transfer
  • Infrastructure and export readiness
  • Energy security, supply chain resilience, and renewable integration

Beyond dialogue, NIEC 2026 champions inclusivity through initiatives such as the Future Energy Leaders Program and the Internship Initiative, nurturing youth participation and empowering the next generation of energy professionals.

The three-day program features plenary sessions, panel discussions, technical masterclasses, B2B matchmaking, networking receptions, and a dynamic exhibition showcasing technologies, services, and investment-ready projects. Strategic opportunities for sponsorship, speaking, and exhibition participation will enable stakeholders to engage directly with Namibia’s evolving energy ecosystem.

“From our first theme, The Road to Discovery & Beyond, to today’s The Road to First Oil & Beyond, NIEC has mirrored Namibia’s energy journey — from ambition to achievement. This edition marks a defining moment to celebrate progress, address challenges, and unlock future opportunities. NIEC is not just a conference; it is a catalyst for collaboration, investment, and innovation — laying the foundation for an energy future that delivers beyond first oil.”
