The Namibian authorities said that the import and transit of live chickens, poultry meat, eggs, and chicks from South Africa will be suspended until further notice. South Africa is one of the continent’s leading poultry producers. It reported the first cases of bird flu in poultry farms in April and there are considerable exports to Namibia because of the geographical proximity of both countries. Namibia also imports poultry from Europe and South America.
