President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reaffirmed Namibia’s dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russia through the Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Established in 2005, this commission facilitates collaboration across various sectors, including politics, economics, trade, and humanitarian efforts.
During a meeting at State House, Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah discussed these matters with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev. They emphasised the strong relationship between Namibia and Russia, highlighting their previous joint efforts as co-chairs of the commission. Both leaders recognised the positive interactions and high-level exchanges that have fostered cooperation between the two nations.

At the 2024 meeting of the commission in Russia, they identified the need to explore new strategies for attracting investment. Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev also expressed interest from Russian companies in geological prospecting for Namibia’s mineral resources and in implementing skills transfer programs for Namibian professionals.
