The Mozambican Defence and Security Forces (FDS) may receive from the European Union (EU) a further consignment of non-lethal equipment for use in the fight against Islamist terrorists in the northern province of Cabo Delgado by the end of this year.

The equipment includes personal protective material, such as helmets and bulletproof vests, knee pads, night binoculars, boots, GPS, and tents. This initiative will enable the Mozambican Armed Forces (FADM) to train their soldiers in this area of Special Forces, marines, and commandos. In addition to training Mozambique’s special forces, including the Marine Rapid Reaction Force, the Air Force, and the Commandos, EUTM-Mozambique is also training trainers within the FADM.
