The Mozambican government moots a plan to revolutionise the national construction materials industry through the creation of national companies capable of using advanced technologies in the production process.
Recently, the ministries of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources (MOPHRH) and Industry and Commerce (MIC) held a roundtable in Maputo, to identify concrete measures to promote housing and the national materials production industry by bringing together the government, the private sector, educational institutions, academies and cooperation partners. They discussed the value chain of production, import, resale, distribution, and use of construction materials in Mozambique
The country has 807 formal construction materials companies, with the highest concentration in Maputo province (32%) and Inhambane, and the rest are spread out in Gaza provinces, Sofala, Manica, Zambézia, Nampula, Niassa, and Cabo Delgado.

Construction materials produced in Mozambique include doors and windows in metal, blocks and bricks, plywood, iron and steel metallurgy, cement, concrete, zinc sheets, tiles, electrical equipment, sanitary metals, valves, paints, glass, glass products, and varnishes, among others.
