Over 350 Mozambican private companies have expressed their willingness to purchase 500,000 doses of vaccine against COVID-19. Of that, 120,000 are expected to be channeled to the government. The Indian variant has not yet been detected in Mozambique. However, the southern African country is vigilant and is appealing to the public to strengthen the prevention measures against COVID-19.
The number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 in Mozambique reached around 320,000, which is only two percent of the government’s vaccination target. There is a shortage of vaccines, which has forced the government to buy vaccines from outside.
