Mozambique has launched a new website-External Trade Website-to give
the public access to the information relating to the process of
importing, exporting and how to handle transit goods. This was
officially launched in the capital city of Maputo recently.

The Website, which was under preparation for quite some time, will
bring in one place information from various public institutions
involved in this activity and that of private service providers that
play an important role in this domain. Experts feel the imitative of
the Ministry of Trade and Industry will catalyze trade of the country
since the portal has all relevant information that a trader is looking
forward to including preferential access to various markets,
procedures for appeal in the case of dumping and how to detect injury
to domestic goods by under pricing imported goods etc.

Importantly, the website is a natural corollary of the World Trade
Organization’s (WTO) mandate for creation of the National Committee on
Trade Facilitation  to coordinate, supervise and monitor the
implementation as a part of the of the Trade Facilitation Agreement.
The agreement stipulates that each contracting party to the WTO
publishes, in a non-discriminatory and easily accessible way, all
relevant information for international trade in order to allow
governments, foreign trade operators and other interested parties to
access it.
