Mozambican President Daniel Chapo inaugurated the new headquarters of the National Road Transport Institute (INATRO), the body responsible for road safety, issuing driving licences and vehicle number plates, and supervising driving schools. According to a note from the President’s office, the new building is a strategic investment for modernising and improving the quality of the services provided to citizens.

The investment, he said, results from the recognition of the essential role of Inatro in regulating, inspecting, and supervising road transport, in the name of safety and efficient mobility.

Chapo claimed that, despite advances made since the creation of Inatro in 2021, challenges such as long queues, discrepancies in how citizens are treated, and a lack of clarity in procedures persist.
