This initiative is detailed in the budget execution and macroeconomic framework report accompanying the upcoming Finance Bill (PLF) for the next year. The PLF 2025 will introduce a carbon tax to align fiscal and customs regulations with climate challenges through new green taxation measures.

The report reveals that the new system for marking petroleum products will be developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development. The primary objectives of this initiative are to tackle fiscal issues related to hydrocarbons and to reduce fraud in the sector.

The PLF 2025 will introduce a carbon tax to align fiscal and customs regulations with climate challenges through new green taxation measures. Earlier this month, the Moroccan government also unveiled three new decrees to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. One of these decrees aspires to diversify energy sources, reduce the national economy’s carbon footprint, and ensure widespread access to affordable energy.
