The Moroccan Airports Office (ONDA) has announced suspension of all flights from and to Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, from October 21 until further notice. The decision was taken due to concerns about the rising cases of the Pandemic in these countries but disappointed many tourists who had planned for a holiday in Morocco.
In a press release, Royal Air Maroc has assured its passengers that they can change their tickets’ date and destination free of charge until December 15 or get a refund voucher valid for 12 months. Travellers can get a cash refund in the same facility where they purchased their tickets. Earlier the Moroccan government also banned air links with Russia due to the same concerns about the rising cases of COVID-19 infections.
Since October 15, Morocco is no longer considered by Germany as a high risk country with regard to the Pandemic allowing entry of passengers from Morocco by presenting a COVID-19 Certificate, proving that they were fully vaccinated against the virus 14 days ago prior to travel or tested negative 72 hours before reaching the country. Morocco is currently in the Netherlands’ high-risk area and the arrivals are restricted. A Vaccination certificate or a negative PCR or antigen test taken before departure, in addition to completing the Passenger Locator Form, are required upon arrival. Since October 11, the British government has allowed Moroccan arrivals with recognised vaccination certificates issued in Morocco.
