Morocco reopened its airspace on Monday 7 February, making the Mohamed V International Airport in Casablanca buzzing. It was closed  for more than two months  due to Covid.  There are restrictions in place to check the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

All passengers must be vaccinated and should undergo an antigenic test and “random” PCR tests carried out on groups of passengers.

For those leaving the Moroccan territory, besides the vaccination pass, they must present a negative PCR test before boarding. The opening of the airport will help promote tourism in the country, which was languishing in the recent months and provide a great relief to business passengers, who were in a limbo for the last few months. The county has lost several million dollars since the pandemic has started.

This year around, it is estimated that 20 million less travellers visited the North African country leading to a loss of close to US$ 8 billion. The government also is coming out with efforts to turn around the tourism sector by tying up with international tour operators and airlines. I thas also kicked off a massive international advertising campaign to promote Morocco.
