Spain imported a record-breaking 17.17 million kilograms of cucumbers during the 2023/2024 agricultural season, valued at €21.55 million, with Morocco accounting for the lion’s share of these imports, according to Horto Info.
Morocco supplied 13.64 million kilograms of cucumbers to Spain, representing 79.41% of total imports and generating €16.98 million. The average price for Moroccan cucumbers stood at €1.24 per kilogram. The country’s dominance in Spain’s cucumber market reflects a 143% surge in Moroccan imports over the past decade, cementing its position as the primary supplier.
Portugal ranked second, exporting 2.19 million kilograms, or 12.74% of Spain’s total cucumber imports, for €2.52 million at an average price of €1.15 per kilogram.
Germany followed with 318,524 kilograms, valued at €555,291, and a higher average price of €1.74 per kilogram. Slovenia supplied 213,136 kilograms at €344,157, with an average price of €1.61 per kilogram. Senegal completed the top five, exporting 184,200 kilograms for €263,242, at an average price of €1.43 per kilogram.
