At the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (January 27-28) global and African leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding electricity access across the continent.
The initiative aims to provide power to 300 million Africans by 2030, addressing the urgent needs of the 600 million people currently living without electricity. As investments and policy reforms gained momentum, the summit marked a significant step towards bridging Africa’s energy gap and fostering economic development.
Hosted by the United Republic of Tanzania, the African Union, the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the World Bank Group, it aims to drive reforms, secure financing, and mobilize partnerships for Africa’s energy transformation.

Known as Mission 300, this ambitious initiative will combine increased infrastructure investments and comprehensive policy reforms across the entire electricity supply chain. The commitments and measures announced during the Summit will help secure political buy-in at the highest level, crowd in private sector financing and additional resources for energy access, and fast-track critical policy measures that are essential to reaching the ambitious goals of Mission 300.
