In the wake of the West’s increasing hostility, Russia is actively seeking to establish closer ties with nations around the world. Earlier in December, a Russian delegation led by Deputy Defence Minister, Colonel General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, visited Mali. The visit, the second in three months, aimed at discussing energy and transport ties with Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, fellow members of the Alliance of Sahel States.
