Mali and Burkina Faso hold consultations for cooperation

Mali’s coup leader and the leader of Burkina Faso’s military junta met recently in the Malian capital, Bamako to discuss bilateral cooperation. Colonel Assimi Goita welcomed visiting Burkinabe leader Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.

The visit coincided with the release of three Ivorian female soldiers. They are part of a group of 49 Ivorian military, detained in Mali since July. Both countries agreed to examine and reinforce the military partnership to overcome the security challenges that they face.

After Mali, the Burkinabe leader travels to the Ivory Coast as tensions grow between the two neighbouring countries.
