Malawi Agribusiness Deal Room under the African Green Revolution Forum 2021 has been launched. The Agribusiness Deal Room under the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) promotes investment into African agriculture. The role of the Agribusiness Deal Room is to support enterprises and governments through project preparation, pipeline development, project bankability, investment promotion and setting up an enabling environment for the African agribusiness sector. It provides a platform for dialogue and networking amongst enterprises, farmers, governments, investors, financial institutions and development partners.
AGRA Malawi Country Manager Sophie Chitedze observed during the launch that agriculture sector will remain to be the backbone of Malawi’s economy. AGRA in Malawi she added has focused on setting the appropriate but pragmatic policy framework, strengthening systems in seeds, fertiliser and markets. She underlined the role of a robust private sector to utilise reforms and systems to deliver quality products and services. Taz Chaponda, CEO of Malawi Agriculture and Investment Corporation (MAICC) urged agriculture industry players to take advantage of initiatives aimed at supporting farming.
