The city council of Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda has announced that about 58 road projects are planned for implementation in and around Kigali city before 2024.
- The city’s advisory council adopted the resolution in a meeting on the Kigali Infrastructure Project (KIP) to construct or upgrade 215.6 kilometers of roads in six phases by 2024.

The project involves asphalt and cobblestone road construction, rehabilitation of roads across the capital, upgrading from two to four lanes, repairing and renovating them. Dr. Merard Mpabwanamaguru, Kigali’s Vice Mayor in Charge of Infrastructures and Urbanisation, said that the KIP project aims at fostering urban mobility ease traffic flow, and improving public transportation in Rwanda’s capital. The construction process of the roads will involve the relocation of approximately 2009 households.
