Lulu Group International, UAE based retailer giant is exploring business opportunities in Nigeria. After establishing sourcing and logistics facilities in South Africa and Egypt, the company is examining setting up similar facilities in Nigeria. The facility will be used to export local agricultural produce to its various operations across the GCC, India and the Far East.

The proposal came up for discussions during a meeting between Muhammedu Buhari, President of Nigeria, and Yusuff Ali MA, chairman of Lulu Group during the Annual Investment Summit in Dubai recently. Chairman of the group expressed the Group’s interest to collaborate with Nigerian farmers to promote local produce and ensure food security. He also evinced interest in signing contract farming deals with local farmers and entrepreneurs to facilitate the supply of fresh vegetables and fruits to Lulu’s hypermarkets worldwide. The discussions will be followed up by the visit of a high-level team of Lulu to Nigeria soon.
