The authorities in Equatorial Guinea announced the re-election of Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo for a sixth term, who has been in power since 1979. He bagged almost 95% of the votes polled. The longest-serving head of state in the world, therefore, is getting one more term in office.

The longest-serving head of state in the world, therefore, is getting one more term in office. On average, he used to get elected with over 93% of votes during the last six terms.
The 80-year-old had won with 94,9% of the votes backed by a coalition of 15 parties, apart from his own – the Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE). The percentage share of votes of the opposition parties was not announced, though they could be negligible.

The opposition talked about small irregularities.
