DIAGEO kicked off the first Bartender Competition with a Mix Off Zambia event held in Lusaka. Twenty participants, with some representing some of Zambia’s well-known entertainment centres, presented unique cocktails which highlighted their creativity and taste for exquisite flavours.

Diageo Senior Reserve Brand Ambassador Joyce Mealyn said the competition was held to ensure all bartenders acquire essential service skills to keep any business afloat. These skills are crucial in a bar as they form the foundation of a positive customer experience and contribute to the overall success of any venue.   The online training offered will help ease access to participants, which is important because it provides learners with skills of international standards.

The first winner would walk away with a prize worth USD 2,000 prize, the second winner would get a mobile bar to start a business and the last winner would walk away with a bar kit. The first winner would further attend training in South Africa, and have an opportunity to work as a professional in the industry at one of the best restaurants in that country
