The Southwest Branch of the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) urged all brigades responsible for the security of the Al-Wafa oilfield to enhance their readiness for any emergencies. They requested that all brigades proceed to the field for “a matter of utmost importance.”
The PFG published photos on its Facebook page that it said were of patrols of brigades of Al-Wafa oilfield stationed within the borders of the oilfield for protection. It did not explain the reason for announcing the raising of the level of readiness and emergency, or the sources of the threat to Al-Wafa oilfield, and the National Oil Corporation and Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, which operate the field, did not announce any developments at the field. Al-Wafa oilfield is located 540 kilometers southwest of the capital, Tripoli, and about 160 kilometers south of the city of Ghadames within the “NC-A16” concession contract and extends along the Libyan-Algerian border.
