A statement from Kenyan Airways announced that Kenya Airways (KQ) and Oman Air have enhanced their codeshare to include more destinations to connect passengers. The codeshare expansion came into effect on October 2nd effected giving seamless connectivity to Oman Air passengers travelling beyond Nairobi to Entebbe and Johannesburg. Similarly, Kenya Airways passengers can travel beyond Muscat (Oman) to Karachi (Pakistan) and Lahore (Pakistan), Kenyan Airways and Oman Air entered into codeshare agreement in August 2017 covering services between Muscat and Nairobi till now. KQ was hopeful that, the codeshare expansion will boost travel between the two countries and strengthen the cultural links that Oman shares with the coastal parts of Kenya and Tanzania.
The cooperation is also expected to enhance KQ’s footprints in the Middle East through the Muscat gateway in line with KQ’s strategy to strengthen its network efficiency, expand through partners while focusing on the high yield corporate and leisure segments .It is also adding more destinations through codeshare including Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Bangalore (India), Chennai (India), New Delhi (India), Hyderabad (India) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
