King Mohammed VI Hosts Belgian Prime Minister: Discussed Bilateral Economic Issues

King Mohammed VI hosted a luncheon in honor of Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and the accompanying delegation recently in Rabat.

 The luncheon, chaired by the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, served as a platform for high-level discussions and reaffirmation of bilateral commitments between the two nations.

Notable attendees included key figures from both the Moroccan and Belgian governments, including the Minister of the Interior, Institutional Reforms and Democratic Renewal, Annelies Verlinden, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and External Trade, and Federal Cultural Institutions, Hadja Lahbib, among others.

The event came cl;ose on the heels of the 3rd meeting of the High Joint Commission for Morocco-Belgium Partnership, co-chaired by Akhannouch and De Croo. During the meeting, a Joint Declaration was adopted, along with the signing of two memorandums of understanding and a cooperation roadmap.

In the Joint Declaration, both parties expressed their commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations, aiming for a future-oriented strategic partnership to address current and future challenges.

Of significance was Belgium’s reaffirmation of support for Morocco’s autonomy initiative, presented in 2007, as a credible and serious effort towards finding a mutually acceptable political solution for the Western Sahara dispute.

Prime Minister De Croo reiterated Belgium’s stance during the meeting, emphasizing the initiative as a viable basis for resolution, as stated in the joint statement.
