Kenya’s foreign direct investment hits a new high

World Investment 2019 the report has stated that Kenya’s foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2018 rose by 27.53 percent to hit a new high of Sh164.84 billion. The report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) indicated that the preferred sectors of FDI included manufacturing, chemicals, hospitality, and oil and gas.

The UNCTAD report acknowledged kenya’s policy reforms to facilitate private enterprise and foreign investment, which contributed to the inward flow of FDI.“It improved its ‘Ease of Doing Business’ ranking and has also been marketing its export processing zones (EPZs) as attractive destinations for manufacturing-oriented foreign investment.”Some of the recent foreign investors in Kenya include global hospitality leaders like Hilton, Radisson etc.
