- Presidents of Kenya and Zimbabwe pashed out at the continuing sanctions on Zimbabwe and asked for their immediate lifting to help the poor citizens of the southern African country
Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on the international community to lift sanctions against Zimbabwe. He said the sanctions are illegal, continuing for quite some time and hurting the citizens of the impoverished Nation. Sooner the restrictions were lifted, the better for the nation, he stressed.
Kenyatta was speaking at the State House during a joint press briefing with the visiting Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Prior to the joint press meet, the two Heads of State led their respective delegations in bilateral talks which discussed a number of issues including economic, business and social including empowerment of women and youth. Also, the two sides signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on political and diplomatic consultations, promotion of tourism and wildlife conservations.

President Kenyatta pointed out that the signing of the agreement on women and youth empowerment would help in increasing the employment and emancipation of the weaker sections of the people.
Sanctions on Zimbabwe has been criticised by several African leaders since the impact of them are mostly falling on the poorer people. Sanctions are continuing despite many economic challenges being faced by one of the poorest nations in the world.
