Kenya on the 9th of August, 2022 will elect a new president among four presidential aspirants. Among the contenders to be watched are former premier Raila Odinga and current Deputy President William Ruto.

The August 9 general elections have brought up a ray of hope and relief to the Kenyan voters.  Mega rallies were organized by different factions to corner vote share. A massive number of people attended such rallies. While no one can predict who would have the upper hand among the four, Kenya faces some chronic issues, that every citizen wants the government to address. They are poor health, ignorance, poverty, and corruption.

Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate of the Azimio la Umoja coalition is determined to attack the four imponderables. Yet, people in the know of things, maintain that it would be a herculean task for him or any other presidential aspirant to address these complex issues, given their seriousness.

On the other hand, the current and outgoing Deputy President said that he could uplift the economic status of the poor in what he termed the bottom-up manifesto. Meanwhile, the Independent electoral commission has maintained that it was ready to preside over fair and credible elections. An international company by the name of Smartmatic will help in the technological integration of the election. The company focuses on building the most secure, accessible, and easy-to-use election technologies, although critics and analysts have questioned the firm’s ability in offering a secured system that cannot be compromised.
