Beleaguered Kenyan airlines have to depend on Artificial intelligence (AI) to solve its vexatious problems, according to Kenya’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, Bitange Ndemo.

He said that technology could make a difference in the aviation business and the world over AI is playing an important role in crafting the change to become more productive and to make service more personalized. For instance, he pointed out that Ai-powered chatbots provide personalized and immediate services to clients.

Mentioning that Kenyan Airlines’ services have belied expectations, Bitange Ndemo, said that by the end of 2022, the airline should have had

10.3 billion available seat kilometers (ASKs) deployed as against 5.9 billion reported over the same period in 2021, adding that such ambitious targets can be achieved by regaining passengers’ confidence through the greater deployment of technology including AI.

The Ambassador also urged the airline to invest more in technology to reduce costs and improve efficiency and safety. He underscored the need for reviewing the current partnerships and code sharing if it adversely affected the expansion. The airline should also find ways and means to deploy technologies for biometric facial recognition and fingerprint scanning technologies that streamline check-in and boarding processes.
