Kanya may purchase oil from Russia. This indication has come from President William Ruto at a time when a number of nations, notably the United States, avoided engagement with Russia on account of its invasion of Ukraine. It is reported that President Ruto hinted that he would be exploring all possibilities in an effort to rein in the increasing fuel prices. Of late, fuel prices in Kenya have increased due to the discontinuation of fuel subsidies.
President Ruto is reported to have said that the import of fuel from Russia was a good option for entire East Africa, particularly Kenya since the region as a whole has been affected by the fuel increase, casting more burden on the common man.

The president also said that in order to create a seamless financial framework and better the lives of East Africans, Kenya will cooperate closely with other nations in the region.
