The ICT Authority hosted a stakeholder engagement meeting as part of the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP), an initiative designed to propel the country’s digital economy forward. The project’s success hinges on strong collaboration with stakeholders, particularly the private sector within the ICT industry.

Principal Secretary of the State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, John Kipchumba Tanui, emphasised the critical role of the private sector in KDEAP. He highlighted the importance of investing in digital infrastructure to enhance broadband access, foster innovation, create jobs, and develop digital skills. The government aims to deploy 52,000 km of fiber, with an additional 48,000 km expected from private sector contributions.

The project will increase access to broadband through an expansion of the fiber optic backbone and last-mile connectivity to government, learning institutions, and Kenya’s borders, benefiting the regional digital market. It seeks to expand broadband access by extending the fiber optic backbone and last-mile connectivity to government, educational institutions, and Kenya’s border regions. These efforts strengthen the regional digital market and enhance access to online services.
