A new online platform exclusively devoted to women traders to market products in the Commonwealth countries has been launched by the International Trade Centre (ITC). The project under the She Trades project will be hosted by the Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (Keproba).The platform will facilitate women-owned enterprises to market their products globally. The She Trades initiative that goes live on February 25 will bring together three million women onto one e-platform.
Keproba chief executive Wilfred Marube said that they were keen to partner in similar initiatives to expand the export pie in the global economy. The project is expected to boost trade and investment opportunities for women and also economic growth in Commonwealth countries by supporting women-owned businesses. The potential sectors include agribusiness, information technology and business process outsourcing, textiles and apparel as well as tourism sectors. It was reported that in September 2020, a group of SheTrades women partners participated in the virtual Macfrut digital fair in Rimini, Italy, which generated deals worth Sh235 million.
