Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has delayed the resumption of Kenyan Airways flights on the Indian route for another 30 days. India route is one of the most lucrative destinations on its network. In a notice, Kenya civil aviation regulator said that the ban on Indian flights which was imposed in April has been extended to August 20. KQ suspended its flights to India to or from Nairobi to Mumbai in April this year following high cases of Covid-19.
Kenyan citizens and Indians who are local residents are allowed to fly in on charter flights. They have to undergo 14 day quarantine and also submit proof of negative results of Covid-19 tests taken 96 hours before flying. Currently, KQ is operating chartered flights to cater for repatriations on demand. Many Kenyans travel to India for medical treatment and that forms a large chunk of customers for Kenya Airways.
