Digital solutions speed up public services, improve their transparency, and facilitate citizens’ access to a more modern and efficient administration.

On Thursday, January 30, Côte d’Ivoire took a new step in modernising its public administration with the official launch of the e-Justice platform. Intended to simplify access to judicial services, this initiative now allows citizens of Yopougon and Dabou to submit their applications for nationality certificates online.

The platform allows in particular the allocation of a unique number to each applicant, the use of a visible electronic stamp (CEV) and an authentication system via the VERIF application of the National Office of Civil Status and Identification (ONECI). Users can follow the progress of their files in real-time, thus reducing administrative constraints.

“Justice must be an accessible, fluid and transparent service for all. Today, it is a fundamental milestone that we are setting on the path to a more modern Côte d’Ivoire. This platform is a symbol of transformation and progress, at the service of every Ivorian,” declared the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Jean Sansan Kambile.

The project is part of the national digital transformation strategy aimed at improving the efficiency of public services. According to the latest United Nations report on e-governance, Côte d’Ivoire ranks 124th out of 193 countries in the e-government development index, with a score of 0.5587 out of 1. While the country is making progress, particularly thanks to initiatives such as e-Justice, this ranking shows that there is still work to be done to reach the standards of the most advanced digital administrations.

This platform marks the beginning of a digital transformation for the judicial sector. In a few months, the project will be extended to other jurisdictions and new services, including the management of criminal records. Ultimately, the initiative aims to harmonize and modernize the entire Ivorian judicial system, thus offering all citizens simplified, secure and more efficient access to justice services.
