Positioned as one of the major importers of arms worldwide, Morocco has been focusing on upgrading its military equipment with cutting-edge technologies from international partners. As part of its commitment to boost the sector, Morocco allocated MAD 124.7 billion ($12.88 billion) to its defense industry this year.
Morocco’s heavy investments in the military are part of the country’s approach to bolstering its ranks and improving military capabilities. Several reports zoomed into Morocco’s efforts to upgrade military capabilities. A report from Insider Money listed Morocco as the 20th top country with the largest artillery arsenal.

Morocco was also listed as the 29th largest importer of arms among the world’s 40 largest arms importers by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Israel is among the top three largest arms exporters to Morocco, with 11%, according to the report. Morocco’s arms supplier list is topped by the US with 69%, followed by France (14%).
