Internet is becoming a political tool of late in the hands of
politicians. It  is alleged to have happened in most of the African
countries, particularly those went to poll recently. Togo is no
exception to the small. The small West African country the other day
was cut off from the internet, hugely affecting peoples; communication
channel. The country has a good internet outreach, which is growing
year after year, despite the not so supportive polices by the regimes
that rule the roost in various countries.

The other day, Togolese were without internet after connectivity
dropped across the West African country. The charge of the country’s
internet right group-NetBlocks- was that it was a stage managed
incident to test the waters on account of the incoming presidential
elections in February. But another internet right group discounted
that claim by saying that the issue was a technical one which arose
from a fault from submarine cables in Spain and Portugal.
