Forecasts ranged from 12.5% to 22.5%, with the majority anticipating inflation to fall below 15%—potentially marking the lowest level since September 2022. In January, annual headline urban inflation dropped to 24.0%, reflecting a marginal 0.1 percentage point decrease from December.

Egypt’s inflation rate is expected to have dropped significantly to 14.5% in February, as the sharp price hikes seen over the past two years are no longer influencing the calculations, according to the latest poll released by Reuters.

A Reuters survey of 15 analysts projected that annual urban consumer inflation would fall to 14.5%, down from 24.0% in January. The data was gathered between February 27 and March 5. A survey conducted by EnterpriseAM among ten analysts projected that annual headline urban inflation would decline to 14.3%.

It is worth noting that the Central Agency for Public Mobilization (CAPMAS) inflation data is supposed to come out within the next few days.
