US-India ICT Sector Cooperation to Gain Momentum

The United States has invited India to invest in the ICT sector, particularly in the segments connected with innovation and cyber security.

This invitation was extended by Mr. Diego Morales, Secretary of State, State of Indiana at the inauguration of the twin events of INDIASOFT 2025 and 10th Edition of the Indian Electronics Expo, held today in New Delhi, which is being organized by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) today in New Delhi.

“ My state Indiana can be a springboard for Indian ICT companies to penetrate into the highly competitive and vast ICT market of the US and to successfully run their operations; “said, Mr.  Diego Morales, adding that innovation and cyber security are two areas that can be tapped to deepen and broad base the cooperation between the two countries.

Specially referring to the State of Indiana, the visiting dignitary, who is accompanied by a powerful ICT delegation said that Indiana provides the right environment for ICT investments and penetrating to other States in the US. Also, a large number of companies in the US needed sourcing of electronics parts and software solutions, which can be provided by the Indian companies, which have a historic presence in the United Staes.

The contingent from Africa for the twin events included business representatives and experts from South Africa, Tanzania, Mauritius, Zambia, Nigeria and Cameroon. A large number of one-to-one meetings are taking place on the sidelines of the expos, which are expected to get converted into continuing businesses.

Importantly, in the three-day event, over 1500 companies are participating from over 70 countries and a large number of business deals will be signed.

“This year’s participation is at a record high and it is a testimony of increased interest shown by foreign delegates to participate in the shows as we expect a large number of business deals to be signed during the course of next three says” says Mr. Veer Sagar, Chairman, ESC.

The ESC organized twin shows will be focusing more on Artificial Intelligence, robotics, machine language and cloud computing etc. where India is gearing up to build capabilities. “In the next few years, Indian ICT scenario will undergo a transformation especially in the healthcare and transport sector driven by breakthroughs in technology and innovation;” said Mr. Sandeep Narula, Chairman, Global Outreach, ESC. He wanted the delegates to get acquainted with the areas that Indian collaboration can make a difference in their countries and enterprises.

Mr Arvind Kumar,DG, STPI explained about the focus of the shows on startups and said that of the over 158,00bstarts ups in India as of now, 78000 are tech startups. More than 50% of the startups are driven by women indicating the inclusivity in the startup ecosystem in India.

In this regard, Marwari Catalyst has set up a startup segment in the INDIASOFT 2025 and presented cheques worth Rs 3.75 crore to carefully selected startups. Also, more than 50 startups are recognized and mentored at the twin events.

Highlighting the transformative changes taking place in the electronics hardware sector in India, Mr. Vinod Sharma, past Chairman, ESC said that India’s smartphone exports are now poised to touch US$21 billion from a small base a few years ago and the same may be replicated in other products segments also.

Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Executive Director, ESC in his presentation traced the growth of both shows and said that efforts are underway to make them progressively global.
