- Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, is scheduled to visit Rwanda from January 24 to 26.
- During her visit, she will be meeting top officials in the finance ministry, the Prime Minister and President Paul Kagame.
In December 2022, the IMF Executive Board approved US$319 million for Rwanda under the newly established Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). Rwanda is the first African country to access RSF that will support Rwanda’s ambitious agenda to build resilience to climate change. It also includes a 36-month Policy Coordination Instrument to support Rwanda’s economic policy and reform agenda to achieve macroeconomic stability and inclusive growth. Following the approval, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, is scheduled to visit Rwanda from January 24 to 26. During her visit, she will be meeting top officials in the finance ministry, the Prime Minister and President Paul Kagame.

Her programme also includes a roundtable meeting with East African Finance Ministers and Governors of the Central Bank and address a panel discussion on the region’s efforts in mitigating climate change. Georgieva also propose to engage with green entrepreneurs and meet the representatives of youths involved in green programs at Nyandungu Eco Park.
