Huawei Kenya has launched its second ICT Competition roadshow at Kenyatta University. The event is part of the initiative to recruit over 7,000 Kenyan students for the 2024-2025 ICT Competition. It is a platform designed to showcase technological expertise and innovative solutions.

The roadshow is part of a nationwide registration push that seeks to engage the country’s top university and technical college students.

Michael Kamau, Partnerships and Corporate Affairs Manager and Head of Huawei ICT Academy in Kenya, emphasized the critical role such competitions play in shaping the future of technology in Kenya.

“We are committed to equipping the next generation of tech leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the digital era. The ICT Competition is a unique opportunity for students to gain exposure to the latest technologies while solving real-world challenges,” he stated.

Huawei’s ICT Competition is a flagship program aimed at cultivating ICT talent, fostering innovation, and addressing the digital skills gap in the country.

The initiative has witnessed significant growth over the years, allowing students to gain invaluable practical experience in cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and network security. Engagements at the University featured hands-on demonstrations by the Huawei team, alongside guidance on the registration process.

The roadshow is set to continue its journey to other major universities across Kenya, including Zetech University, Multimedia University, Embu University, and Dedan Kimathi University, in the coming weeks.
