Hospitality industry in Kenya is expected to bounce back during Christmas and New Year enabling the industry players to offset the losses they suffered during the pandemic days, as the Christmas season offers stakeholders a means to offset the impact of the
pandemic.
It is reported that some of the hotels in Nairobi are fully booked ahead of the Xmas and New Year. The hotels have put in place measures which will actually safeguard the guests. This development is taking place despite Kenya experiencing a spike in cases, reporting 94,768 confirmed cases as of last yesterday (Wednesday). Kenya recorded 1,647 deaths according to Johns Hopkins University.
The business of the hospitality sector has been booming since the country has re-opened after the lockdown. It has been looking up for some time with occupancy levels hovering around 65 percent. Happily, the business travel has also picked up going by the booking of the meeting halls, say industry insiders.
