High powered IMF team visits Republic of Congo

·        Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for Africa Aivo Andrianarivelo  visited the Republic of Congo from July 3-8 along with a delegation

·        The visiting team also had a meeting with   with Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso

·        The last review by the IMF in the Congo was on February 21, 2021 and the central African nation signed a 3-year economic cooperation agreement with the Fund in July 2019

Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for Africa Aivo Andrianarivelo  visited the Republic of Congo from July 3-8 along with a delegation to hold parleys  with  the new Congolese government and to assess  their economic standing for a credit facility. The visiting team also had a meeting with Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso.

The IMF team said that they would continue to interact with people of Republic of Congo to get their feedback and to fact in people’s perceptions while evolving packages for the country. The team also indicated that the  exchanges were fruitful. However, they added that they have to study the situation  considering  the resumption of the  three-year program.

The last review by the IMF in the Congo was on February 21, 2021 and the central African nation signed a 3-year economic cooperation agreement with the Fund in July 2019. The Congolese authorities are hoping to get an Extended Credit Facility agreement.
