Heads of state of Portugal and Mozambique meet to discuss further economic cooperation

Portuguese prime minister Antonio Coasta and the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, have expressed satisfaction with the resumption of bilateral meetings.  António Costa reaffirmed  his country’s  commitment to continue working with Mozambique, its erstwhile colony

Portuguese prime minister Antonio Coasta and the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, have expressed satisfaction with the resumption of bilateral meetings.  António Costa reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continue working with Mozambique, its erstwhile colony.

The two leaders met recently at the Fifth Luso-Moçambican Summit, at the Presidency of the Republic of Mozambique. Earlier to that, there was a closed-door meeting between the two leaders, details of which have not been reported.

The President of the Republic of Mozambique complimented the latter for his recent victory in the legislative elections and hoped the relationship between the two countries would improve.  The Portuguese Prime Minister reaffirmed Portugal’s full commitment to continue working with Mozambique, in facing the difficulties and also to be able to contribute to the development of Mozambique. The two countries have reaffirmed to work in the areas of health, education, and especially in the diversification of the economy, energy, and agriculture.
